Nystagmus and registration

People with nystagmus are not automatically registered as sight impaired if only the visual acuity is taken into account. Our guide explains how registration works.

Because the sight of someone with acquired or congenital nystagmus can vary so much throughout the day and from one day to another, entitlement to be registered as sight impaired or severely sight impaired can be open to interpretation.

The Nystagmus Network summarises the position here and can provide further support and information.
