I’m not ‘doing it on purpose’Â
I share my story so that people understand that, behind nystagmus, there are courageous children fighting to succeed. We are not looking for pity, but for respect and understanding. In Algeria, as elsewhere, we exist and we succeed.
Sometimes, in the evening, when my eyes are tired from struggling too much, I close my eyelids and play the guitar in the dark. Then, the world finally stops moving. At that moment, I no longer see with my eyes, but with my heart. And my heart sees very clearly that I am capable of anything. My nystagmus makes my eyes dance, but I am the one who chooses the music of my life.
