Thank you, Kim!

When Kim applied to the Nystagmus Network for a place in the TCS London Marathon 2026, we didn’t hesitate to award her our charity ballot place.

Kim’s daughter, Maya, has oculocutaneous albinism and congenital nystagmus, so Kim was keen to raise both money and awareness. She shared this poem at the start of her fundraising:

“Would you look at my daughter

And her hair that’s so white

Would you think about nystagmus

And helping her sight?

Because this cute little girl

With the bluest of eyes

Will not need to worry because her mummy tries

To raise awareness and knowledge of life with albinism

and how her diagnosis has affected her vision

Can we think about the charity

That could help Myah’s vision

And would you please consider me …

before you make your decision

You see I’m Myah’s mummy

and I want her to know

That goals and determination

will help her to grow

Because this little girl

Who is only just 3

Deserves the same choices in life

As children who see”

With several months of events and fundraisers planned, Kim aimed to raise £5000. There were dance-a-thons, a cycling sprint and a Halloween ball, all to raise money for the Nystagmus Network. By the time Kim crossed the finish line, her total was over £10,000!

After finishing the marathon, Kim shared the below message to her dedicated Instagram following:

“Thank you to every single person who has supported me, whether you donated, shared, liked, messaged, came to cheer me on, travelled to be there, It ALL mattered. Every bit of it got me to that finish line.

Still taking it all in… but right now, just feeling incredibly grateful.”

Thank you, Kim, for your amazing fundraising and huge congratulations for completing the London Marathon!
