After unexpectedly winning a place for the TCS London Marathon 2026 in the public ballot, Ryan became a (very) accidental first time marathon trainee. He set himself the ‘couch to London Marathon’ challenge – and he did it!
Ryan has congenital nystagmus, which he describes as “constantly trying to focus while on a moving escalator. With blurry signs. In the rain. With one shoe on.” Ryan ran the marathon with fellow BSL interpreter Vicky as his guide runner; Vicky “dragged, steered, and gently bullied” Ryan around the course to the finish line.
In the wake of his huge success, Ryan shared that the London Marathon was “by far the hardest thing I’ve ever done in my life but so proud of myself for getting through it.”
Originally setting out to raise £500, Ryan has fundraised over £2000 for the Nystagmus Network. Thank you for your incredible efforts, Ryan and congratulations on your marathon achievement!
