David’s amazing Open Day film

We were so lucky to have the inspirational David Katz as our guest speaker at Open Day 2018. Not only did he deliver an amazing presentation, but he was around all day chatting with delegates and supporting Maayan with her Movement and Spirit workshop for the children.

If you weren’t able to come to Open Day this year, David’s short film will give you a flavour of what you missed. Enjoy!

Watch the film here.

Marie Turnbull

Calling Manchester!

We’re about to launch our very first local nystagmus network in Manchester. Your host, Nystagmus Network trustee, Marie Turnbull, is arranging a date, time and venue for your first get together. We’d like as many people as possible to be involved.

If you’d like to come along, please contact us by email and we’ll send you all the details.

Thank you!

Could you walk from Eye to Eye for nystagmus?

At 11am on Sunday 10 March 2019 we’re planning the biggest nystagmus community get together of the year. Team Nystagmus Network will be taking part in the Eye to Eye Walk between the iconic London Eye on London’s South Bank to the equally famous and symbolic eye sign outside Moorfields Eye Hospital.

Please join us.

We’re doing this to raise much needed funding for ground breaking research into nystagmus at Moorfields and University College, London.

You can choose to take the 4 mile or the 14 mile walk. It’s up to you.

Bring the family, bring the dog and help the nystagmus cause by raising lots of lovely sponsorship.

Registration is now open. It’s free for accompanied children under 16 and is just £20 for the 14 mile route and £15 for the four mile route. We suggest a minimum sponsorship of £100 for every participating adult.

Moorfields will supply:

  • Route maps
  • T-shirts for every participant
  • Fundraising support
  • Refreshments, medal, goodie bag and celebration at the end of the walk at their brand new Ect Venue, (Belvedere Road, London, SE1 7PB) next to the London Eye!

Please sign up today!

UK Nystagmus Research Meeting 2018

Researchers and clinicians from Cardiff, London, Plymouth, Sheffield and Southampton are meeting today to plan the way ahead for nystagmus research. Our medical experts are joined by charity trustees and our funding partners, Fight for Sight.

The half day conference, hosted by the Nystagmus Network, takes place in Birmingham today ahead of the charity’s Open Day 2018 on Saturday.

Another Nystagmus Network first!

Thanks to Paul Bowry and his family, the Nystagmus Network will be enjoying our first ever fundraising Car Boot Sale on Tuesday 18 September.

Paul has been running boot fairs at the site in Essex for some time. Following his grandson’s nystagmus diagnosis, Paul decided to negotiate a charity collection with the organisers at one of their events.

This proved so successful that Paul decided to take the next step and seek permission to hold a dedicated charity event, with all proceeds going to the Nystagmus Network and a local group setting up a sensory room for children with multiple disabilities.

If you’re in the Essex area, please go along to support Paul. Anyone with nystagmus is guaranteed free entry and a very warm welcome from Paul!
