Sam Jones

Sam’s challenge of a lifetime

Nystagmus Network Trustee, Sam Jones will be cycling 500 miles around the North Coast of Scotland in June this year to raise money for the Nystagmus Network.

It’s the ultimate road trip and the challenge of a lifetime.

What people may not realise is that Sam has nystagmus himself and is acually the reason the Nystagmus Network charity was formed.

Thank you, Emma

For Halloween 2020 Emma and her very determined family held a coffee, cake and crafts fundraiser for the Nystagmus Network. All COVID-19 restrictions were followed and the family raised £400. An amazing effort! Thank you so much!

Claire and her young son smile for the camera

Thank you, Claire

Both Claire and her young son, Zac have nystagmus. In 2019 Claire decided she was going to do a sky dive for the Nystagmus Network. Postponements because of the weather and then again this year because of lockdown, meant Claire was waiting nervously nearly a whole year before she could make her leap. But she finally did it in 2020 and raised £420.

Thank you, Claire.

Ahrian smiles for the camera.

Thank you, Ahrian

In 2020 Ahrian offered the Nystagmus Network her services as a volunteer. So far she has designed the logo for the @NystagmusYouth Instagram account and the new T-shirt for our 19-21 challenge.

Ahrian has nystagmus herself and wanted to give back something to the nystagmus community. She says: “I was born with nystagmus and grew up really anxious about it. It was really bad when I got nervous (which was 80% of the time) but then I realised I could take control of things like that. I learned to work with it and be proud of who I am. I was a competitive cheerleader for 10 years and loved tumbling, although it made me feel super dizzy!”

THANK YOU

12 thumbnail images of people who have given so much to the Nystagmus Network and the nystagmus community in 2020.

#GiveBack2020

We’ve all had to give up so much this year and we’ll all be pleased to make it to the end of 2020.

But before we do, the Nystagmus Network is celebrating 12 people who’ve given back so much to the nystagmus community in 2020.

We’ll be telling their 12 stories in the run up to Christmas, so please keep checking back.

It was really hard to choose just 12 as so many people have been so generous with their time, energy, enthusiasm, expertise and skills.

Thank you to all of you.
